Promptober Day 5: Alchemy

Originally I wanted to build the ICRPG Alchemist. At first I was thinking Fullmetal Alchemist because I like the spellcasting in that series. And I like Alphonse because I think he’s cool. Then I thought more like Enchanter in D&D, but that’s a bit cliche. Pathfinder sort of casts the Alchemist in a potion crafter role which yeah… sorta.

I’m struggling with this one.

In my old game back in the D&D 3E days, my wife played a Witch done as a separate class. I’ve always liked that class, but it ruined me on potion making and magic orbs forever. That class is the best at what it did and I’d be tempted to port it over to ICRPG.

That brings me to the Alchemy currently involved in my DCC dungeon plans. The demon, Shaper, is the BBEG of my campaign. He is responsible for all of the hideous hybrid monsters and freaky mutations over the course of 5+ dungeons. His alchemy is not lead-into-gold so much as regular-goblin-into-giant-half-murder-hornet. His spells and techniques are pure evil and motivated by reasons only his twisted mind can fathom.

That’s my take. I know, not much of a prompt. Thank you for stopping by. More Prombtober to come.
